MeterBeam vs Printanista
Short version: Printanista Hub is ECI Software Solutions' cloud managed-print platform — the product that unified FM Audit and PrintFleet into one console. It is big, mature, SOC 2 certified, and priced and sold like enterprise software: per-device quotes, multi-year agreements, and an ecosystem that assumes you also run ECI's e-automate ERP. MeterBeam is a focused printer fleet monitoring and smart-supplies platform with published prices, a 30-day trial, month-to-month billing, and built-in fulfillment and shelf-stock tracking. Large dealerships standardized on ECI should look at Printanista. Everyone else usually gets the same core outcome — accurate meters, toner shipped before it runs out — for a fraction of the cost and admin overhead with MeterBeam.
What Printanista is
Printanista Hub is ECI's current-generation MPS platform. It replaced two long-running products ECI acquired — PrintFleet and FM Audit — and is the console ECI is migrating those customers onto. Its data collection agent runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Raspberry Pi, updates its device definitions automatically, and feeds meters, supply levels, and alerts to a multi-tenant cloud console. Printanista is strongest where ECI is strongest: dealers who bill through e-automate, need OEM and ERP integrations, and manage tens of thousands of devices. It is sold through ECI's sales team on quote-based, per-device pricing, typically on annual or multi-year terms. If you're weighing the older product, see MeterBeam vs FM Audit.
What MeterBeam is
MeterBeam does the same fundamental job — a lightweight collector discovers printers over SNMP, reads meters and toner levels, and reports to a cloud portal — then concentrates on the decisions dealers and IT teams make with that data. Days-to-empty forecasting per cartridge. A fulfillment queue that says exactly what to ship, where, and when. Per-customer meter reports for contract billing. Shelf-stock tracking so toner already sitting at a customer site is counted before you ship more. An open REST API and a native MCP connector so your own tools and AI assistants can query the fleet. It was designed around real dealer billing, supply, and service workflows, and runs production fleets today.

Pricing: Printanista vs MeterBeam
ECI does not publish Printanista pricing. It is quoted per device, usually alongside e-automate and other ECI modules, on annual or multi-year agreements — the same commercial model as FM Audit, where dealers report the smallest tiers around $530 per month. MeterBeam's prices are on the site: Dealer / Multi-Site is $399/month list, $250/month at the Founding Rate, with 500 devices included across unlimited customer accounts and $0.50 per device per month beyond that. No setup fee, no term, 30 days free. For a single organization's own fleet, Single Seat is $150/month list ($100 Founding) with 50 devices included. Details on the pricing page.
Where Printanista is the better fit
- You already run e-automate and want meters, supplies, and service to flow through one vendor's stack. That integration is Printanista's core advantage.
- You manage tens of thousands of devices across many OEM programs and need a platform with that track record.
- Your buyers require SOC 2 paperwork from the monitoring vendor today.
- You need macOS or Raspberry Pi collectors specifically.
Where MeterBeam is the better fit
- You don't run ECI's ERP and don't want a monitoring tool that assumes you do.
- Your Printanista or FM Audit renewal is up and the number no longer matches a fleet of your size. MeterBeam is typically less than half the cost with no term.
- You're an MSP adding managed print: multi-tenant, alerts, and a fulfillment queue with a 10-minute collector install.
- You're an in-house IT team with a fleet nobody watches. Printanista isn't sold to you; MeterBeam's Single Seat plan is.
- Shelf stock is your real problem. Doubles, dead SKUs, panic orders — MeterBeam tracks on-hand toner per site and draws it down on swap, so "never run out" doesn't turn into "closet full of cartridges."
- You want to build on the data with your own scripts, dashboards, or an AI assistant via the API and MCP connector.
Evaluating MeterBeam alongside Printanista
Both collectors are read-only SNMP pollers, so they run side by side with no conflict. Install the MeterBeam collector at one or two sites, compare meter reads over a billing cycle, let your supply person work from the fulfillment queue for a month, then roll out and let the ECI term lapse at renewal. Setup steps are in the documentation.
Frequently asked questions
Is Printanista the same as FM Audit?
Printanista Hub is ECI's newer cloud platform that unified FM Audit and PrintFleet. FM Audit customers are being migrated to it. Functionally it covers the same DCA job with a modernized console and cross-platform collectors.
Is MeterBeam a Printanista alternative?
Yes, for the core workflow — automated meters, toner monitoring, alerts, multi-tenant management, and supply fulfillment. MeterBeam adds shelf-stock tracking and an AI connector; Printanista adds deep ECI/e-automate integration and enterprise-scale features.
Does MeterBeam have an e-automate integration?
Not natively today. MeterBeam provides per-customer billing exports and a REST API; an e-automate connector is on the roadmap.
Can I run both during a trial?
Yes. Neither collector changes device settings, so there is no conflict.
